NEW LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY

Luther Lee is the fresh, new face of leadership in the city.

Born and raised in Tallahassee, Luther has a deep rooted connection with the community.  He is a true voice for the people and has the leadership skills and ability needed to represent the people well.

My name is Luther Lee and I’m asking for your support as we bring Tallahassee back to the people!
I wasn’t born into privilege, which taught me the value of hard work from a very early age.  Even while dealing with financial adversity, I still had the opportunity to receive an amazing education; I attended Tallahassee staples like Sutton’s Pre-school, both Hartsfield Elementary and Trinity Catholic School, Fairview Middle School, and James S. Rickards High School.  I also attended Florida A & M University with a focus on Computer Information Systems and a Minor in Business Administration.
I am forever indebted to the Leon County School System for providing venues for me to identify and expand my gifts throughout the course of my early education.  I gained invaluable lessons being involved in the Rickards High School Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corp (JROTC) for four years and rose to the ranks of Lieutenant Colonel and Battalion Executive Officer before graduation.  In addition to those achievements, out of respect for the pageantry and honor of JROTC, I also involved myself in their Drill Squad and Color Guard.
When not involved in JROTC activities, I immersed myself in extra-curricular activities that would further mold me into the man I was aiming to become:

•    Student Government – which sparked and fueled my interest in the political arena
•    Weightlifting Team - to strengthen me physically
•    Varsity and JV Football – to help shape my understanding of the importance of the team dynamic
•    Prom and Yearbook committees – to sculpt my comprehension of relationships and society
•    National Honor Society (NHS) – which was achieved by choosing to take Honors, Advanced Placement and College

Prep courses and addressed the mental and academic goals I had set for myself.

Feeling accomplished and well-rounded, I graduated with Honors from Rickards High School and looked toward Florida A&M as my next scholarly step. Out I went, eyes bright, heart full of hope and motivation, into early adulthood, ready to live out the process of obtaining the American Dream.
And then life happened.
Although I’d started out on what seemed to be a bright and promising path, I found myself in some trouble – and in a few instances, trouble found me – so I spent years rebuilding from those “youthful indiscretions” while others focused on climbing corporate ladders and keeping up with the Joneses.  It is amazing how one poor decision, one immature misstep (and the consequences that subsequently transpire) can set off a seemingly unbreakable pattern.  However, based on what I experienced and the price I paid, I truly believe that the lessons I learned along the way are what made me the man I am today.  The very mistakes that threatened my livelihood almost twenty years ago have become the lessons that taught me the value of the things worth fighting for:  family, faith, and the future.
In the interest of personal accountability and political transparency, I openly embrace my past and the struggles I’ve overcome because every day is a part of my story.  I also feel as though I needed to have those experiences so that I could more accurately represent the spectrum of folks living in my hometown: Tallahassee!
Fast-forward to present day.  I am a 35-year-old father of 5!  I am proud to be married for almost 10 years to an amazing woman and am honored to have the chance to build a life with her.

I have over a decade of management experience in private and public sector which has equipped me with a unique ability to solve problems and navigate the tough situations that others tend to avoid.
It is this unique background and series of life experiences that give me a keen understanding and relationship with the human experience.  Tallahassee needs fresh, new leadership to continue moving forward and I am the man to make that happen.  I understand that real leaders are merely humble servants and always lead from the front.  It is this attitude and set of principles that will continue to guide my decidions.

My name is Luther Lee and I appreciate your support.

Thank you,
